I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your code telegram of the 4th December which decoded was as

follows:-

"Your telegram of 2nd December mobilization, etc.,

proposals approved".

and to report in continuation of my confidential despatch of the

4th December that on the 15th December the Legislative Council unanimously agreed to vote the sun of 878,200 from Colonial Fundą, to defray the military expenses incurred up to the end of the current year in connection with the war.

I enclose a copy of the Financial Minute laid

before Council which contains a statement of the chief heads of

expenditure and also a copy of a brief statement of the ore important items included in the head Liscellaneous".

3.

I have also paid as an advance the cost of the

maintenance of wives and families of prisoners of war pending

your decision on my confidential despatch of the 20th November, 1914. The amount including wages of the wife of a Police Sergeant and extra allowance to the Sergeant who are in charge of the Segregation Camp is 82,180.43 to 31st December, 1914.
